Culver City Senior Center / Senior Housing Complex

Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration

Client: Culver City Redevelopment Agency

Project Location: Culver City, CA

Description:
The Culver City Redevelopment Agency commissioned TAHA to prepare an Initial Study for the proposed relocation and expansion of the Culver City Senior Center and an adjacent senior housing development. The proposed project entailed the construction of a one-story, 27,000-square-foot senior center and an adjacent three-story, 77,391 square-foot senior housing development. The Initial Study was prepared in order to facilitate a Negative Declaration for the proposed project, stating the unlikelihood that the project would create any significant environmental impacts that could not be sufficiently mitigated. Issues of special concern included parking supply and demand, special events planning, and impacts on emergency services within the City. In addition, mitigation measures were devised to reduce potential impacts to archaeological resources during the construction of a subterranean parking lot and reduce traffic impacts at the intersection of Culver Boulevard and Overland Avenue.
