Downtown Strategic Plan

Environmental Assessment

Client: City of Los Angeles

Project Location: Los Angeles, CA

Description:
As part of the Downtown Strategic Plan effort, TAHA was asked to identify for the Advisory Committee, the CRA Board and the general public, the potential environmental consequences of the more than 250 policies and initiatives contained in the plan document. A specific focus of the work was to identify what elements of each policy may have significant environmental consequences, and then to identify mitigation elements that should be incorporated into the plan to minimize or avoid these potential adverse consequences. TAHA also evaluated the consequences of land use projections and travel projections on air quality. While an EIR was not prepared for this policy document, an Environmental Implications document was prepared, which included further environmental review steps that should be taken to have a coordinated and expeditious approach to reviewing development proposals(both pubic and private)in the central business district.
