Santa Monica Boulevard Transit Parkway

Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Assement

Client: Myer, Mohaddes Associates

Project Location: Los Angeles, CA

Description:
As part of the NEPA and CEQA environmental documentation for a widening and landscape improvement along the segment of Santa Monica Boulevard between the San Diego Freeway and Century City, TAHA was asked to conduct air quality and noise studies, as well as, coordinate document production. TAHA estimated construction-related air emissions that may be generated by the various aspects of the work. Specific emphasis was placed on PM10 emissions and concentrations from grading and earthwork activities in the abandoned Southern Pacific railroad right-of-way, as well as, emissions from pavement breakup and resurfacing. A noise survey was conducted to assess the existing noise environment and provide a foundation for estimating future noise levels for the proposed alternatives. The survey focused on representative points along Santa Monica Boulevard that were determined to be most sensitive to noise impacts. Caltrans' Sound32 noise prediction model was used to estimate noise levels.
