Description:
As part of the Proposition A Bond Fund Improvement Project, the Southwest Community College was undergoing the preparation of a Facilities Master Plan for the campus. TAHA was selected to prepare the Environmental Impact Report to the Master Plan. The Southwest College campus is located in unincorporated Los Angeles County within the Athens Community. The Master Plan is designed to allow for the addition of new facilities and the renovation of existing facilities to accommodate an increase in enrollment from 5,200 full-time equivalent (FTE) students to as high as 16,500 FTE students by year 2016. Environmental impacts of specific concern include seismic sensitivity due to the fact that several active faults traverse the campus, parking requirements, air quality and operational noise impacts i.e., noise generated at the proposed 4,500-seat athletic stadium.
